CDL and Medical Card Waivers

Posted: Dec, 23rd 2020

The FMCSA is not likely to extend the CDL and Medical Card expiration waiver again.  It has been extended twice, the current extension expires February 28,2021. If you have a driver who had a CDL or DOT medical card that expired on or after March 1, 2020 and they are still operating on them, they must renew soon. If a driver is stopped on March 1, 2021 or after and still is operating on an expired CDL or expired DOT Medical certificate, they will be given a traffic citation and will be put out-of-service by enforcement.  If they are involved in a crash after the deadline there could be dire consequences if a civil case results from the crash.
