CVSA BRAKE SAFETY WEEK STARTS IN TWO WEEKS

Posted: Aug, 9th 2020

Brake Safety Week is August 23rd through the 29th. This is a nationwide project for all certified inspectors to conduct CMV (Commercial Motor Vehicle) inspections, focusing on brake issues. Selected CMVs may be chosen for roadside inspections or at scale facilities. Carriers must be aware that more inspections will be conducted during this week focused on braking issues.  Citations will be issued and Out-of-Service orders will be very strict.  Carriers should let their mechanics and drivers know of this project so extra checks can be initiated before CMVs start out on their trips.  Extra emphasis should be directed to the drivers’ pre-trip and post-trip inspections, focusing on brakes.
